(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Friday morning)
Issued at 404 AM MDT Thu Sep 21 2023
Scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms continue early this
morning, favoring the higher terrain along the Divide. Sites such
as KTEX, KASE and KGUC stand the best chance to see showers/storms
in the vicinity, though KDRO could get some activity in the next
few hours. Storms gradually taper off from south to north as drier
air works into the region. This will lead to mostly clear skies
and VFR conditions today before clouds begin to increase ahead of
the next system across the northern zones tonight. After storms
diminish this morning, gusty winds will be the main aviation
concern with widespread south/southwest winds gusting to at least
25 kts by 18Z. Low level wind shear may also become a problem
overnight. Some isolated showers and storms will begin to form
over far northeast Utah late in the TAF period.
